Top 5 Dim Sum options for Aunt
Westerners often have difficulty choosing what to eat in restaurants Dim Sum. Being a British citizen born Chinese, I often stick to choose. So I asked my aunt for some tips and here are their top 5 recommendations. When ordering dim sum, usually is sufficient to order a 3 or 4 pieces per person. When visiting a restaurant with my family, often also ordered a plate of rice or noodles accompaniment.
Note that the spelling may be slightly different because of the translation.
1 – Woo Gork
A stuffed mushrooms shiitake mushrooms, minced pork, shrimp and dry Chinese five-spice is wrapped with mashed taro and flour. The pleasure that results is fried and has a layer of yellow or dark brown. They are usually served in batches of three at the beginning of a meal.
Gau 2 – Har
Shrimp Dumplings …. Shrimp filling contains chopped bamboo shoots. The pastry is a light translucent rice flour, and white. These dumplings are steamed and probably my favorite. Usually they are served in portions of four in a steam basket.
3 – May Siu
Meatballs. Sometimes with a little shrimp, too. Packaging is made of egg noodles and wonton and the top left open. The top is sometimes sprinkled with black mushrooms and / or substance orange. The substance is generally carrot orange. But the most elegant use of small fish eggs. I got out of them as a child when a restaurant once gave me premium Siu May As Har Gaus, they are usually served in portions four in a steamer basket.
4 – Cheung Fun
Sometimes referred to as Chinese Cannoli, the roll of rice noodles are a favorite in the second as mine, after Har Gau. Parts are wide, long, white rice noodles. The variety usually deep fried pastries cut into sections inches long.
5 – Char Siu Bow
These are cylinders containing Chinese companies fist BBQ pork. I'm not a big fan of myself, but many people really like. Pasta is made from wheat, and normally light, fluffy white. Be careful when you eat these as the filling may be hot.
