One of our New Year resolutions 2009 is to find interesting new wines which offer outstanding value. In the column, I always tried to present the wines that offer good value and this approach is more appropriate than ever.
With all the snow and sleet and ice rain we experienced in this time of year, we tend to hang around our homes and host or attend home parties. Playoff football offers a good reason to invite your friends and have fun. In this column, Karen will provide a quick and easy to spread Jalapeño perfect for football games and the bill with some wine work well with this food.
Wine Facts
Football games are fun and provide an informal meeting and socialization. Football party fare tends to be bold and spicy with barbecue ribs, chili, pizza, sandwiches and a variety of salsas and chips that common menu items. These dishes often call beer. If you are hosting a party, it's a good idea to offer the wine, beer drinkers and a variety of options including beverages carbonated soft drinks and water.
As the wine develops rapidly in popularity in the United States, not a great variety of flavors and styles available. Slightly sweet and fruity wines tend to balance fatty and spicy food. I will focus on some red wines that your guests can enjoy the game of football.
I recently visited a couple of local wine merchants and the challenge of offering wines are fruity, with reasonable prices and have a fun and funny name. Mark Dryden Cabernet and Company raised Naperville two reds this challenge interesting. Both wines are blends of Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah. Offer fruity Merlot a wine. The first wine called Mark suggested that papaya, the Cellar Bergevin Washington. This wine has great notes of cherry. I can only imagine your guests asking to "go long" for another glass of papaya. Mark second recommendation is Sacred Stone Master's Red Blend Winery Pietra Santa, which contains more Syrah grapes, papaya, and the taste is a bit sec. Both wines are ideal football drinks.
Party Fare
When customers have more, the recipes are quick, easy and relatively inexpensive are ideal. At parties, people love to nibble on a variety of comfort foods that are fatty and spicy. This recipe is reminiscent of jalapeno peppers served in most pubs. You can also make cream cheese low fat and mayonnaise without sacrificing taste. Add more peppers if you want a button!
