"Where the people of Maui to go to eat?"
It is a question that every tourist loves to Maui and is an important issue. After resting on the beach, dinner is often the most memorable part of your stay.
Over the past seven years I have seen guys vacationers (tourism is a bad word for me) and I can not help but feel sorry for you, you have no idea what is good! You can even buy (tuna) fillets or live lobsters at home and make grilling.
The market can live and eat outside or inside, but it is very limited seating, so I recommends to do is buy a bottle of wine or champagne, for much of takeout and dine better at home than you will get from any restaurant about one fifth of the price.

Kahuna is a classic restaurant and relaxed, open to downtown lahania, you probably walk without even knowing it is there. Here skewers and salads. Everything is very fresh, tasty and healthy. All premises involved in Lahaina love to eat here (we're all sick of the food in our own restaurants).
skewers location can be a bit difficult. It is located in the alley north of the Maui store built. It is a great place to eat if you shop Lahaina and do not want to spend money or deal with a restaurant (you'll probably improve food anyway!)

Originally named David Paul (Maui residents still call it), this restaurant is always the best. In fact, won the best restaurant in Maui "fourteen consecutive years! Why? You get food and great service each time.
The restaurant is right next to the street outside (left during you walk away from the sea). Definitely recommend you make a reservation, because they are always busy.
Mala

Mala is definitely an "under the radar, instead of the map." However, when you open the door were shocked to see how busy is inside. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and killer food (half special menu that changes every night) to keep all come back again and again.
I would definitely recommend a reservation here as well. Although not not to specific tables, the hostess said that you are willing to wait for a table outdoors, then the belly bar for some drink specials great.

There have. Five places to eat in Maui. But do not try to go by my word yourself. I'm sure you will understand what a tourist trap "is, after the experience of these local favorites.
