barbecue sauce recipe help!?

I tried a few recipes, barbecue sauce, one of which was supposed to be the same KC Masterpiece. Has not always been as I expected, that wernt enough smoke and knew a lot of things like tomato sauce, sour! I live in the United Kingdom if some of the ingredients had to resort to alternatives. The only thing is that I do not have liquid smoke, but I Ainsley Harriott few nuts aerosols barbecue marinade I thought was similar, but does not seem to be as strong as liquid smoke. Does anyone have a recipe for a quick / simple barbecue sauce, perhaps similar to that used at the Hard Rock Cafe Smokey and sweet? (Incidentally, molasses was the support molasses and tomato paste were using tomato puree or tomato sauce)
